However they were very apologetic when I called and had him come ASAP. Since we managed to move so much stuff downstairs while we waited for him, he finished his job 45 mins early. Could that time be refunded to us? On the whole, the driver was friendly and respectful and the van was a good size. It’s a shame the company missed our booking.

I had planned to leave after 45 minutes to get the train to our new place, to pick up the keys ahead of the van, so I had to rearrange my train ticket which cost me £15.
The positives were the driver was courteous, helpful, and professional. He knew exactly how to fasten the bulky and fragile items, and we didn't have a single item break in transit (despite moving mirrors, wine glasses, and TVs/monitors). Driver was on time Had straps and blankets Driver was respectful I was charged £116 to pick 2 artificial trees from cotsco to my house which I agreed to it because it was 8:30pm even though ordinarily it should not be more than £60-70. A deposit of £49 taken from me and the driver was meant to collect £67 by cash. So after delivery of item within 10 mins drive from Costco to my house, I went to cash machine to get money and then gave driver 70 to give me change of £3. Only for him to refuse and insisted that the 3 will be his toll charge at Dartford tunnel. What a greed, after £116 of 10 mins drive of delivering 2 artificial tree that he himself was surprised to see how light and easy the job was when he saw it at shopping mall. This was ridiculous. He knew he was crossing toll to pick my item and I believe this was the negotiated price with the customer service without a separate charge for toll crossing. He was not meant to charge me again separately for toll crossing. Very disappointed. I had to let him go with the money because it was becoming an argument. Infact I wanted to go to my room and give him £7 on top of the £60 from the cash I collected from cash machine , he said NO.
Driver's response: Hi, As per the CMV quote the 4.7 miles included going through the Dartford tunnel which costs us an additional £3 to go through it. From what I understand any toll or congestion charges are supposed to be charged to the client? We could have avoided the dartford crossing but this would have added an additional 26.3 miles to the route and the client would have needed to pay an additional £32.88 to take the alternative route. (£1.25 per mile @ 26.3 additional miles). This has nothing to do with greed the £3 was paid directly to Dartford tunnel. We actually paid £6 to them due to us needing to go back through it on the way home. If the Dartford Charge was negotiated with you before hand, it was not made apparent to us. Nobody advised us that the additional £3 for the dart charge would be added to our statement. Also the client didn’t mention that you agreed to pay it at the time. We politely asked the client if he would pay the £3 toll charge and he agreed to pay it. We was not rude in any way and we most certainly didn’t argue about it. A large van came despite my ordering a small van and after loading the driver insisted that I had to pay £10 more for transporting a Billy book case, 4 archive boxes, two small duffels and 4 black bags of clothes because he was using a large van. In the end I had to agree otherwise he would not have completed the job. The job was done well in terms of the driver being pleasant (apart from demanding more money) and quite helpful. However, after I paid he didn't even give me change so I ended up paying £12 more than the quote I had received from CTM&V.

That would not have been a problem if he didn't show up with additional expenses his company had him collect before departure (not listed at the time of booking, £40 upgrade to Luton van +£12.5 congestion charge (really you couldn't have included these on the price on the website?)). Even that would have been fine if after the payment, which was done in cash, they would give you a receipt. I asked 3 days straight for a receipt only to be finally ignored by whoever works at the company. Super annoying business owner. Would not recommend from my experience, employ a serious business.
