It was Friday evening when I found out and at first I found the compare the man and van site set up in a way as to keep the customer as far away as possible. I was surprised when after some fruitless attempts via chat and phone, somone actually answered my request. From there it went smoothly and I had a new driver assigned quickly.

Driver was on time Had straps and blankets Driver was respectful I was disappointed to learn by email after the move was completed that the removal company had been changed. I was not checking emails before the guys turned up so I am very disappointed that I wasn't warned by text at the very least.
I could see damage to a wooden strut that is part of a bed where it looked like something had been forced whilst it was being dismantled because two screws should have been removed first instead. I asked one of the removal company guys if they had damaged it and was told that it was not them. However when I reassembled the bed I could see that a bracket was bent out of shape corresponding with where the damaged part was. In other words I'd been lied to. Otherwise they were conscientious and the damaged part is out of sight so I think the guys were reasonable value. CMV RESPONSE 12-02-2020: Emailed the driver about the damage. CMV RESPONSE 12-02-2020: Unfortunately, the original driver rejected the move on the morning that the booking was due to take place, as they were unwell. Compare the Man and Van worked hard to source a replacement service. This was a three person team booking for 09:00 on a Friday morning. The replacement service was confirmed an hour before the booking took place, and a 'driver change' email was automatically sent. The customer Laurence Jones states that they did not check their email inbox, and this is why they were disappointed. To confirm, the replacement service Elly Man & Van Removals was a 'Hero' service provider with a top trust score of 10.00. Elly has completed over 739 more bookings than Laurence's original driver, and has more reviews, more miles driven and an overall higher pricing structure. | 12th February |

However, his communication skills were poor and as such I wasn’t sure at times if he was understanding what I was saying to him eg. “That’s a fragile box, please be careful etc.” This was made worse given he was rough with my furniture 30% of the time and bashed and dragged and clipped things which was very frustrating. Due to a communication error one shelving unit got a chunk taking out of it. He also forgot to close the back of his van when moving it to a better position near my house and all of my shelves (12 plus of them) fell out of the van onto the road and got damaged. There was never an apology or acknowledgement which I found to be as strange/bizarre as it was frustrating. He simply did not project manage the move which is a style that did not fit with my expectations, especially having used some excellent professionals through this site who gave assurance in their communication, leadership and respect of my possessions. I don’t want to be too harsh as he was a very pleasant man but given the damage to my stuff and the lack of apology/communication and the frustration it caused, I cannot give him higher than 2/5 as I feel (not to sound pompous) that he needs a wake up call and other people need to be warned until he has improved. The reviews on the site of this man’s service and how it actually was for me were wildly different. Thanks

In terms of the boxes, you asked for my advice on loading and I advised to start with the boxes and follow on with the heavier goods. This is what we did, together with your two helpers. All the boxes were packed with care and I ensured that the boxes marked 'DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON TOP" had nothing put on top of them. I deny that I "bashed and dragged" your furniture, but you did have four people unloading the van who I cannot speak for. I feel that my consistent good reviews speak for themselves. In addition, I am surprised that you are now saying that one shelving unit got a chunk taken out of it, yet it was you who tripped with it. I do take care of my customer's items which is why I insist on loading each and every item for safe transportation and can confirm that all your furniture was wrapped and secured. When the van was full I personally stopped you from piling more items in, so as to avoid damage and I am sorry if this irritated you. I thought it might take them 3hrs but booked for 2hrs knowing they would continue until the job was done. It took them 1hr 40! I didn't pay much and I would still have given the lads a 5 star review if I'd paid double what I had. They were half an hour late which is very unprofessional considering I paid �140 for two hours. The men were very pleasant and polite and did a very good job. They worked quickly and carefully. Feedback from the engineers was that the two guys were great. Strong, listened and could understand english [unlike the ones the day before], polite etc. One brought his daughter with him and asked our client's receptionist to look after her for a few mins...?! I appreciate that emergencies happen in families but had we been asked if this was acceptable I would have said no. It does not reflect well on us as a company. I could see damage to a wooden strut that is part of a bed where it looked like something had been forced whilst it was being dismantled because two screws should have been removed first instead. I asked one of the removal company guys if they had damaged it and was told that it was not them. However when I reassembled the bed I could see that a bracket was bent out of shape corresponding with where the damaged part was. In other words I'd been lied to. Otherwise they were conscientious and the damaged part is out of sight so I think the guys were reasonable value.

CMV RESPONSE 12-02-2020: Unfortunately, the original driver rejected the move on the morning that the booking was due to take place, as they were unwell. Compare the Man and Van worked hard to source a replacement service. This was a three person team booking for 09:00 on a Friday morning. The replacement service was confirmed an hour before the booking took place, and a 'driver change' email was automatically sent. The customer Laurence Jones states that they did not check their email inbox, and this is why they were disappointed. To confirm, the replacement service Elly Man & Van Removals was a 'Hero' service provider with a top trust score of 10.00. Elly has completed over 739 more bookings than Laurence's original driver, and has more reviews, more miles driven and an overall higher pricing structure.

In terms of the boxes, you asked for my advice on loading and I advised to start
with the boxes and follow on with the heavier goods. This is what we did, together with your two helpers. All the boxes were packed with care and I ensured that the boxes marked 'DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON TOP" had nothing put on top of them.
I deny that I "bashed and dragged" your furniture, but you did have four people unloading the van who I cannot speak for. I feel that my consistent good reviews speak for themselves.
In addition, I am surprised that you are now saying that one shelving unit got a chunk taken out of it, yet it was you who tripped with it.
I do take care of my customer's items which is why I insist on loading each and every item for safe transportation and can confirm that all your furniture was wrapped and secured. When the van was full I personally stopped you from piling more items in, so as to avoid damage and I am sorry if this irritated you. However, I do wonder why you were all smiles at the end of the move, thanking me for my "great help", rather than raise any of these issues.

A wrong turn on the mororway set us back around 45minutes but he provided excellent company on the journey from Coventry to London.
I would recommend him and his rates were very reasonable. If I could give him 4.5 stars i would.

CMV response: We do make it very clear in every email confirmation that the van pictured may not be the van arriving on the day as most of our drivers have more than one vehicle. The term 'gold' refers to the level of insurance held and this driver is a gold level driver on the website. Full details of the meaning of bronze, silver and gold drivers is also clearly shown on the website. Lateness is unfortunate but not always avoidable and we do have a clear refund policy for any lateness incurred.

Feedback from the engineers was that the two guys were great. Strong, listened and could understand english [unlike the ones the day before], polite etc. One brought his daughter with him and asked our client's receptionist to look after her for a few mins...?! I appreciate that emergencies happen in families but had we been asked if this was acceptable I would have said no. It does not reflect well on us as a company.
But the guys were good I am told, other than the lateness and the childcare
