The movers were very nice and helpful. I want to be clear on that. But I paid £300 for a large Luton van for a house move and immediately when they arrived they told me the van isn’t big enough and it will cost me £150 more to use the full van capacity. Then they told me I had to pay their ULEZ charge for getting to me. When I said no to this they did the move but didn’t take all our items leaving me with 8 trips back and forth myself. They also put mud on my carpet so I stopped them coming into the new house and took the items myself. Then tag the end they tried to make me pay the extra £150 and put their manager on the phone, a guy called Lee, who told me he would hire bailiffs to come to my house if I didn’t pay. I said ok, do that. I paid the ULEZ charge to make them go away but they had another job and expect they will charge that person too. Beware of this outfit. Beware of the van pictures in their Paige and what they email you.

The team was excellent. Super fast, nice, and made me feel at ease on a stressful day. Really couldn't recommend them enough. Thanks, guys! I'm so happy in my new gaff.

Movers arrived 3.5 hours late and we had to call multiple times to get an update. Movers were not in a great shape ( one of them was probably under age ) and were very slow which meant I had most of the moving myself. I highly doubt they are professional movers as they were struggling and not at all careful with belongings or the flat. The van was not parked properly incurring a fine that we wer forced to pay so our belongings "are not held hostage", the van was in a bad shape, barely fit our things even though we ordered a giant van. The van stopped working mid way incurring more time ( that we wer charged for ) and had to be left in front of our flat overnight. Additionally the movers refused to dismount or put together furniture ( per their boss's instruction ) even though that was specified in the description we sent. We had the owner Lee on the phone he was the most condescending unhelpful human being we ever had to deal with, he was disrespectful to both ourselves and his employees. I don't understand how this person runs a business. Overall worst moving experience ever, we would have been better off renting a van and doing it ourselves.

Overall they're okay, but not very good. I've moved house 3 times now, and this was by far the worst. Jerome was fine and respectful enough to us, but I just don't think much of their professionalism regarding the actual move. They were over an hour late, incredibly slow with loading and unloading (and charged me extra for that, guess it's in their incentive to do so), careless with boxes clearly marked fragile (and this damaged some of the internals of my game console), counted 6 steps as a single flight of stairs and charged me extra. They managed to break my bedside drawers (though i managed to fix it on my own) and blamed it for being loose, and parts of my clothing rack fell out and were never delivered to me. They also wanted to use our blankets for securing the items in the van, instead of providing their own. And they even asked us for help with moving our items, despite the fact that we were paying specifically for two people to help us. And it would be really difficult for us not to help given how long they were taking with loading the van. The insurance policy is also incredibly outmoded and requires that you have pictures of every single thing before the move, before you can claim anything. I understand the rationale, but how am I supposed to take a picture of working tech products? How much documentation must I do prior to the move, adding to my stress even more? Secondly, the insurance policy only allows you 24 hours to make a claim, which is an incredibly short timeframe. Within 24 hours I couldn't finish unpacking every single thing and testing everything to see if it works. I also requested an invoice for the additional payments that I had to make and it took a week to finally get it. Next time I will probably just go with AnyVan as they have always been really efficient and careful with my things in the past.

I booked a driver and helper. Both were lovely and very efficient...and very reassuring when I got to the storage space and thought what I had booked might not be large enough. They helped me stack up everything nicely. Very helpful and nice.

Paul and his two colleagues were all hardworking and polite. We underestimated the time needed to move our belongings but the team accommodated us and got the job done with speed and full effort throughout.

Was 1 hour and a half late and then charged me 32 pounds ontop for extra 30 minutes. Everything I listed on comparethevan website couldn't fit in the van. So not only was I Charged extra, I also had to leave my sofa behind.

The driver added a ulez charge on at the end despite my move not being in the ulez zone. This felt abit cheeky as it was only because he lives in a ulez zone himself. Other than that, they were very efficient and dealt with the two flights of stairs with no complaint.

I thought it would be better if I explained what happened on the day. Firstly, the driver arrived an hour earlier because he got confused. He looked like he has not slept for about a week so he spent all the time in the van sleeping. The helpers were amazing and really helpful so I have no bad word for them. The driver however, brought apparently a Luton van when i requested a medium van. My belongings took up about a half of the van, which would be fine if he did not try to charge me another £100 + ULEZ on top of what I have already paid. If he mentioned the van and the price difference when he arrived I would have declined it but he told me after it was all moved and expected me to dish out another £100. I ended up giving him £50 in the end but this is totally unacceptable. I have initially paid £120 for the service and did not expect any extra charges. the driver spoke to his 'supervisor' who could have been absolutely anyone, and the other guy claimed that the driver can request more money if he believes that it is necessary. Another completely unacceptable situation. Moving is stressful enough and you really do not want to be dealing with a demanding driver during the process. I would never recommend this service to anyone and I feel I have been treated unfairly.

The driver Lewis and his team were great! However, not happy that I had to pay additional £180 to Lee just because there were 2 loads. It was still exactly 4.5 hours that I booked and paid for. I understand payment for additional petrol spent. Let's say £50, but not £180. That was unfair.

The driver and the people helping were great and they did the job very fast. However I was charged 33% extra although the van was half full.

Vehicle arrived 3 hours late due to the previous customer so my advice would be to book a morning slot (I had arranged for midday) if you wanted to decrease the risk of lateness. I requested a large van based on the guidance from this website but ended up with an extra large which was filled. I wouldn't necessarily say the extra large was massive, but I'd suggest choosing that option (I was a single man moving one bed and sofa plus a little bit of additional furniture so I'd advise going larger just to be on the safe side). As for the driver and his assistant. Good fellas. Cant fault them and they worked very hard and were friendly and respectful. The overall experience was not 5 stars due to the lateness and additional costs

Overall these guys were very good. This is the fourth time I've used man and the van and I've never been disappointed and will continue to use. However the removal company charged an extra £15. In this case it would have been useful to me to have discussed the extra charge beforehand especially as I had raised the issue about the stairs before they started. Nothing more was said until after they had finished. This was embarassing as I had no idea there was an issue about the stairs. I didn't disagree. However when booking I hadn't counted the stairs - I don't live there. The flat is on the second floor. It was logical to say it's the equivalent of 2 flights. Luckily I had some extra cash but some people quite simply wouldn't have it on them. The contents of the fridge which had been put in an ample shopping bag was dropped on the floor, a small dish was broken , there was no apology, a number of food items had to thrown away because they were covered in grit. My son gave a considerable amount of help to bringing a lot of his stuff up to the new flat and the removal men finished with half an hour in hand. At first he told me we owed an extra half hour. I pointed out this was incorrect. Then he still charged £15 extra for the stairs. Lastly they arrived early. This could have easily been detrimental to our costs because the main reason for booking them for 9am was because the keys to the new place weren't available until after 9am. By arriving early they could have easily been ready to go to the new flat prior to us actually having keys. This would have resulted in them wanting to charge more because the job could have taken longer overall. Removal companies need to consider this. Arrival on time is better, too early can be as bad as too late.

The driver damaged the families wall and the sofa. The family will paint the damaged area but wanted to know if anything can be done with regards to the sofa. Driver's response: Hello I have just seen this review and as you can probably tell it was written as a third party and not by the customer that we did the move for If it was a message fro. the customer themselves they was the ones who categorical asked for to continue going through the door dispute me recommending and telling them it will damage the property the answer I recieved back was we will paint it back no problem, eventually they allowed me to dismantle the couch so that it would go through the door but not before they tried to force it through the fact that this review has come from somebody that was not present for any part of the move shouldnt be allowed as they can not pass judgement on a move that they had no part in Regards Lee

Driver and two other guys were all very professional, efficient & polite, non of the furniture were in any way damaged besides a bit of black drag marks on the mattress that could of been prevented if I had my own plastic to cover it all but I brushed it off and there was no mark left.. trusted them with the keys to the apartment as there wasn't space for me to come with and by the time I got to the flat it was all nearly done, would definitely recommend to others!

broken bed frame, broken cupboards, scratched walls. Driver arrived with 25% of the van full and did another job while moving us from one place to another. Travel of 40miles took them over 3 hours, as they had to offload the additional job, after that the driver was pressuring us to pay for the full time including the other delivery. The whole activity was extremely unprofessional

THE DRIVER'S RESPONSE TO THE REVIEW 21-02-2020: Very unsure of this review as all was done on time polite and nothing was broken or damaged everything was fine when we left and we also assisted him on taking his furniture to a neighbour's house. this is an unfair assessment of what happened on the move and has no reflection on the service I will give him a call direct to get this over turned as this review is very unfair. regarding his comment regarding in a hurry it was pouring down with rain and I'm sure he never wanted us to take our time cost him more and get his stuff wet I will call him later on today as this comment is unacceptable

Lee was a bit early actually. Him and RJ (sorry if I got it wrong!) were quick and efficient. The whole moving took us a mere 1.25hrs, when I was expecting around 2.5hrs. Well done lads!

The three guys who turned up - on time - were brilliant. Really helpful, polite, professional and friendly. Made for a totally seamless and stress free time and would 100% use again and recommend highly to others.

There were a few slightly damaged bits of furniture, but apart from that the move went quickly and smoothly.

Overall the move was ok. The driver was respectful but loaded up armfuls of boxes so that handles broke and things fell off the top of his pile. The van was loaded up with no order and when they opened the door at the destination a few things fell out. I was also charged for extra flights - which I understand - but no account was taken of the fact I had brought over half my boxes down to the ground floor ready for the move. Also the driver was 20 minutes late and when I called Man and Van they were told (and relayed to me) that the van was outside my house. This was blatantly not true! My move was a simple one and no disputable damage done but I wouldn't use this company again. (THIS BOOKING TOOK PLACE IN JUNE 2019. THE REVIEW WAS POSTED IN DECEMBER 2019) Driver's response: Hi This review is from so far back I don't remember the customer at all, however, if handles broke from boxes it sounds as if they was over packed and weighed too much for them to be held. As the customer stated nothing was damaged and we were respectful. Driver dropped and broke an audio amplifier and broke my double bed. Would only compensate if I could prove amp wasn't working at the time although front was scratched n beaten up with something rattling inside. I had no speakers, audio source avail to hand to test it given I was moving house. They didn't take much care with most of my items and I had to point out couple of valuable items and ask them to try take care with them. Then he charged me additional £53 as he had to make 2 trips even though original quote and pre-payment clearly specified 2 trips would be required. V disappointing, prob won't use ur service again. 12.12.2019 Driver's response: "Enclosed (photo attached of dead mice on the floor) are some of the things we had to deal with while doing this move including a mouse running directly at us. There were mouse droppings everywhere and all over us and it was very difficult to look after people's good if they have not looked after their own stuff. The boxes containing Barry's equipment were damaged due to the mice or rats that had damaged his boxes making them extremely weak and unable to hold the goods that were inside. Regarding the price, we had to do 2 trips which I showed the customer he did not put in the booking and the time also ran over. None of the beds were damaged, the damage was pointed out to him at the storage so we could point out to him that it was not us that caused the damage before we even touched his stuff. They didn't seem to be very organized at all, they have been just piling up boxes (throwing them as well) to get them to fit in the van, although some boxes where clearly marked being fragile and I also mentioned this to them and as result obviously some boxes got damaged. Although a loading bay was provided one of them wanted to park in another place closer to the entrance door where it was not allowed but still wanted me to be responsible whether he would get a fine ( I obviously refused). They charged me one hour more than scheduled, which was expected however they definitely took all their time for the move., showing a quite evident laziness. They also wanted to charge extra for reassembling (and i guess disassembling) furniture, so they pretended to have assembled my bed and they were "so generous" not to charging me for it, but actually all the screws were loose, the bed slats were not installed and I had to sort it out later my self!! I definitely won't use them again! Driver's response: I'm unsure if this customer had a chip on his shoulder regarding us before we came to do his job but this is the way it has come across upon arriving at his new address we had to park at the back of the building where we had to walk past the bins and a long corridor which was past a few other buildings, just to get to the lift, as I observed there was also a place to park directly in front of the door but I was unsure if this would of then given us a ticket so I advised the customer of the length of time it would take to load from where he suggested us to park and where we could park and explained it will take longer than his booking so he would then be charged extra for the time going over. I also made him aware if I moved to this new parking spot that if there was any additional cost for fines that it goes to the customer so he now has a choice whether he would like to take the risk or alternatively the time would be longer although I did not see it being likely that a ticket would be produced as we would be there unloading After giving him the information he began to say that we would pay for any fine not him so I then explained I will continue the job from where he told us to park and explained roughly how much time it would take to do so which is his choice after completing the job I began to put his bed together and he told me he wanted me to stop and not do anymore as he can do the rest, despite me doing most of it already he wanted to do the rest himself. not at any point was there a sign of laziness and as you can note nothing was broken at all nobody threw or placed his boxes in any compromising positions he obviously had a problem from the start and I wouldn't advise anybody from compare to take a job from him as his attitude towards people helping move was completely off and he wants to put a spin on his review to make it sound as if there was problems that wasn't there. regards Lee

It was a difficult move, for all involved. I am an artist and a lot of heavy and awkward stuff in form of recycled wood had to be moved 4 flights of steps. The driver and his helper showed themselves very kind and hard working which was essential to the move. I took their card, as I thoroughly recommend them to any of my friends and acquaintances.

Recommended if you’re moving a barn... Not a good choice for moving home! (1) Driver arrived an hour late; even though I rang and requested to be kept up to date with an ETA, I was not notified of any delays (2) The strap of my guitar stand went missing while being unloaded, asked the driver, he said “chucked everything loose in the van into the boxes” (3) Got charged an extra £10, driver couldn’t explain why, then mumbled it’s because of extra flight of stairs. I requested a full breakdown of the bill from driver, which he confirmed reluctantly that he’d send. Also rang comparethemanandvan.co.uk to formally request the bill. Result: You guessed it, I never received the bill!! There were actually fewer flights of stairs than what I put in the booking, so I got ripped off for job that was booked for 2 hours and lasted 1.5 hours ... On the plus side the driver was quite strong; capable of carrying heavy loads and fast at loading/unloading. Driver's response: The customer was updated with time of arrival as I was on a previous job which ran over and the customer was told this as I always call all the customers to inform them of arrival time if we have had to go longer with a previous job, compare was also called and informed of this hence it being blocked out in my diary (2) the strap of the guitar was not found inside my van and the van was empty, once we finished unloading this was stated to the customer that if he wished to look inside the van he was welcome to as there was nothing left in the van (3) the booking stated 1 flight of stairs and the customer has a loft conversation which he had stuff inside which needed bringing down the extra flights he also booked a small van and filled the Luton van hence there being extra charges which was explained to him while loading and while he was travelling so he understood that this wasnt the same van size that he booked. I also wrote down a breakdown of all the cost in front of him so he could see all he was charged for so he was aware of the extras and was not lied to at any point about this. I also received a call from the office which I then explained all the charges and it was agreed the price was correct (I actually charged less) hope this clears the matter up as this customer is lying I have done over 200 moves for compare and rudeness isn't something that I do with anybody let alone my customers kind regards Lee Marcus

I booked a large van with a driver +1. They both arrived early and were very quick with removing the items (one of which needed disassembling) Great care and respect were made with both loading and unloading at the destination. An additional charge was added because of the location of my drop off. I don’t know why I wasn’t informed of this from the beginning as I entered my drop off location online before booking CMV response: We can see that the Congestion Charge was payable on this booking. We do give very clear warnings on the website prior to booking, and also on the email confirmation you receive after booking, that if your booking incurs the Congestion Charge, £11.50 will need to be paid directly to the driver and we are sorry that you missed this information.

They both worked very hard on a hot day and were very polite. I had miscalculated the flights of stairs despite calling you to clarify beforehand. I was told by your office it was by flights, one floor to the next, so it increased the cost through no fault of the driver. Perhaps this could have been avoided. I would definitely book this team again who worked really well together.

Your website is not very user friendly in terms of listing contents to be moved, but otherwise great CMV RESPONSE There is a clear 'description' box on the quote form that allows all customers to clearly specify the contents they intend to transport. In addition, there is a 'van size calculator' which allows you to select different items from clearly labelled sections.

Even though they were forewarned that there were three flights of stairs at the destination, they were only prepared to carry our furniture half way up. Not acceptable.

Good pair of lads to help move items to storage. One turned up on time to start the move of boxes and the van arrived a little later - but was efficient and would certainly use these guys again.

Despite being late the two gentleman that came to my home & helped me move was polite & very apologetic they was late. I’m on old school lady & I like to know who I’m using but they had great reviews so I decided to use them and I do not regret it. My belongings where treated with respect & the two gents couldn’t have been any more helpful that what you need on a hectic moving situation. Driver's response: Today I have lost my grandmother which was told to me as I was leaving for work so could not leave on time for work as I just found out what had happened this was explained to the customer so he was aware. Despite this the job was done respectfully and nothing was said or done out of turn so unsure why this has been put in the review all goods was taken from the storage to the customers house in a safe manor which meant us having to do 2 trips and the time going over which the customer was charged for his stuff was carefully wrapped in the blankets and strapped all goods so they was safe the customer didn't say anything was wrong and we left with a handshake and saying all the best for his future nothing was done or said between us that was disrespectful so unsure of why this review has been left Kind regards Lee Marcus

Absolutely 5 star service! Would highly recommend!

Really nice guys who got on with things quickly and respectfully. Didn't need much direction and worked well. Only downside was they were over an hour late due to another job overrunning which set our plans back, but they made up for it.

Lee was fantastic throughout! Arrived early, stress free and supper fast loading and unloading and really flexible when we had a bit of a hitch with timings for entry into new property! Would highly recommend and would use him again anytime.

Hi, the driver and service was great. The only complaint is we were easily an hour short of the 2,5hrs I had booked and yet the driver charged me additional for an extra flight of stairs. Just feel this could have been reviewed on basis that I had paid for time but in the stress of the move I didn't think to challenge and was left feeling very dissapointed.

The driver arrived on time but his colleague arrived 30 minutes late. They did not have the tools to dismantle Ikea and john Lewis furniture. The move that I was expecting would not take more than 5 hours (I had booked for 4 hours but was expecting the move to take 5 hours since I added the delivery and assembly of one furniture item to another location 20 minutes away ) ended up taking 10 hours over two days (I was moving from a small 2 bedroom with not too much furniture and further we had packed everything and in fact had moved a number of boxes in advance of the big move) took about 10 hours in total over two days (good thing that I moved two days before my lease expiration so had bit of time). Further, I was asked to pay GBP30 for assembly and disassembly of the major furniture items over and above the quote I received from Compare Man and Van - they were however, nice enough to agree to deducting the disassembly/re-assembly cost from the additional cost related to the move on day 2. Finally, my sofa had a tear in it when it arrived. In short, a move that I was expecting to be relatively easy (since I have moved several times before with much more stuff) ended up being one of the most stressful ever.

The guys were late, unprepared. They arrived and start moaning for 20 minutes that they didn’t know where to park, asking us how could they do and that if they would get a fine we’ll have to pay for it. After that wondered around looking at the items then told us to start to bring the stuff half way the stairs for them and towards the end to bring them all the way down while they were loading the van. I mean seriously I paid good money so that I didn’t have to do the job myself and I still ended up doing it. I spent time to cover my matress so that wouldn’t get dirty and while bringing it downstairs the cover broke and even after I told them please to be carful they siply complained they didn’t know how to grap it so they just kept moving it on the floor in the street. Once everything was done (2 hours before the 4 hours I paied for, since me and my friend did half the job ourselves) they overcharged us £30 for a bigger van, which by the way was exactly like the one in the picture on my confirmation email and an extra flats of stairs, which I still don’t get as first of all my flat is at the second floor as mentioned while booking and also we brought ourselves almost everything downstairs, so which extra flats of stairs are they even talking about???!!! That was a very bad experience which I paid a lot of money for, I really wish to hear back from you!!! Driver's response: Hello I'll address every point as followed as this is not what happened on the day. Firstly, we arrived and was unable to park anywhere on the customer's road as the customer lives on a one way main road with a bus stop outside. The roads either side of her property were both congested and had both restrictions and double yellow lines, meaning there was absolutely no place to park. As we were unable to park and the customer had not arranged suitable parking for us, I left the 2nd man in the van while I assessed the job and tried to workout exactly how we were going to be able to park the van without getting a fine, while getting the customer's goods downstairs and into the van. I explained to the customer (who could see) that there was no place to park without getting a fine that if she looks into the Terms & Conditions, if she advises us to park somewhere and we get a fine, this fine will then be her liability. As for the second accusation, we started moving the goods downstairs and into the small tight passage way, we then filled the passage way and started a chain as the customer was up 3 flights of stairs. The customer then said she (and her friend) would take some things downstairs. At no point were they asked or expected to. These were her goods and if she chooses to help (as a lot of customers do) this is welcome, but not an expectation and has NEVER been something we ask for. As they were helping bring the items down, we included them in our chain. Once the passage way was full and most of the goods were downstairs I then moved the van onto a double yellow line, so we could move the goods from the passage to the van. At this point the customer still had a few goods upstairs and began to bring them down while we cleared the passage way, which was no longer able to hold anymore goods. Her 3rd point, the customer wrapped her mattress in loads of black bags making it impossible to carry as we realised while trying to carry it down the stairs. When we got to the bottom my colleague complained that he could not grip the mattress any more to carry it to the van as it was covered in plastic bags and was slipping out of his hands. He then took the black bags off of the place where the handle was and carried it from the property to the van. Not once was the mattress dragged in the street as this is (a) not possible and (2) the customer was standing next to us. If this was true I'm sure she would have said something straightaway! This 100% did not happen as we couldn't physically drag a mattress across the floor without totally destroying the mattress. Her 4th point, the job was booked for a medium van, the van in the picture is a Luton van and is not the van that was booked. The customer filled the van to capacity and the volume of her goods wouldn't have fit in a medium, or even a large van. I explained this and showed her friend who drove with us, exactly what a medium, large and Luton van was, and that a Luton was required for this booking. The larger van fee was what she paid the extra for. She didn't pay £30 extra, she paid £20 extra which included the extra flights of stairs which she had also omitted from her booking. The total requested was £138 The customer's building has 1 long flight of stairs and then 2 blocks of stairs which go on to a separate floor. The first long flight was like 2 flights but was not charged as 2 flights as there was no floor or breaks, just 1 long windy staircase so this was only charged as 1 flight. The 2 separate blocks of stairs which lead to a small floor were classed as 2 flights. ....oh, one thing we did do is we were 10 mins late which I called and informed the customer of. Lee and Co called me in the middle of one of the worst snow storms of the past few years not to cancel, just to let me know they would be late which was of course understandable. The guys were friendly and really nice and patient in moving all of my stuff in the middle of a snow storm! Can't recommend them enough for making the move so easy! Thanks guys! :)

The men were 2.5 hours late, they did text in the morning saying they would be an hour late blaming the weather, however, they later admitted they had booked a job in Dagenham just before ours which ran over. They didn't bring any trollies etc. with them so fragile items were just treated like other boxes - there was only one damage, my jewellery which was in a fragile box and a "do not tip" sign was on its size. At the end of the session the guys asked for more money saying we had taken 2hr 45 and had paid for 2. I showed them my receipt showing I had paid for 3 hours so they then changed their story and said we were 3 hour 45 - I had to show them call log and text messages showing when they arrived to prove we had been less than 3 hours. Overall, the COmpare the Man and Van team have been fantastic but I wouldn't use this company ever again Driver's response: Having looked at what was said this is totally unacceptable and no money should be returned for a job that was completed in completely terrible condition. Nobody should of been working in these conditions or driving in them the roads was not clear and accidents where happening all around the country. I stated to the customer that the times will be late due to the weather condition prior to being late, and stated I would update them on the time as the weather was really bad. In these condition we could of very easily cancelled the job as the whole country was warned of the bad weather. In regard to any damage NONE of the goods was miss handled and nothing from what I saw was damaged. These claims are outrageous and I have taken a massive offense to the disgraceful way that the customer wishes to describe us dispit the fact of us moving in condition where we ourselves witness drives get stuck on the same road we moved them to as the ice made there wheels spin and I myself had to assist them getting out. I also nearly had accidents on the Thursday due to us being unable to stop and other drives pulling out as if the roads did not have ice on them. When we arrived, we moved 1 item we was greeted with a response of "we are working slow and move faster" at this point we had picked up 1 item and moved it to the lift it took no more than 30 secs to move it but was greeted with this type of attitude, the attitude from the customer from the beginning was absolutely disgraceful and nobody should be subjected to working on these types of condition, this is possible 1 of if not the worst customer I've had to deal with as there was no appreciation for the fact we could possibly hurt ourselves moving their goods in the snow. I would be massively disappointed if we have given them back money for this as this isn't the full story and there should not be anything given for people who want to act the way they have during the job if the time was a problem I had no problem in letting somebody else do the job and if that was stated or the time was a problem then this could have been stated at any time and I would of call up to give it to another driver (if another drive would of taken on the work in these conditions) kind regards Lee Marcus

Nearly 3 hours late, did apologise twice for being late but weren't exactly careful with my boxes as 1 was completely broken, another boxes lid has been partly broken and a small part of the lip on another box is slightly broken

Driver was 15mins late and didn't contact, I called them to find out where they were. I had to request the blankets supplied to be used, can't recall seeing any straps. The base of the van was filthy and my material divan bed was just slid across it, leaving me to wipe down at the other end. Damage made to a few pieces of furniture and to the internal building wall. I booked for three hours and I understand it's non refundable if they finish early, which they did by 30mins but they then charged an extra £10 as the one flight of stairs I had quoted actually counted as two as there was a break/small landing in the stairs. I've used a number of removal companies but I wouldn't return to this one. Driver's response: Hi I'm writing in response to this review which was received for last week. We did contact the customer on the day to say we were running a little late, but unfortunately could not get through to her and the call went straight to voicemail. The customer then called us when we were just around the corner from her place, less than 15 mins away. The mattress was placed in a plastic cover and had sheets on it. I consider it was as protected as can be (on the day it was wet). With regards to the inside of the van, it is regularly cleaned and we have received complements in regards to it being cleaned. We undertake moves daily which is why the van gets cleaned very regularly as we do not want to have a bad reputation for damaging peoples' goods due to the van being dirty although the fact that it was raining on the day would have played a part in the move. With regards to the damage allegedly done to the internal building, I would say that nothing was pointed out to us on the day and I do not recall there being any damage being done to any of the property. I consider this was not a fair review of the trail of events on the day. If we finish a job faster than the booked time, we should not be punished by the customer requesting a refund. It just means that we did an efficient job and got the move finished 30 mins faster. I'm sure there would have been a complaint if we had taken 15 mins longer and asked for the extra money. This review should be taken down as none of what has been put up has been a fair trail of events and will be something that effects us very disappointed as the customer didn't give the indication that there was any type of problem or we did anything that made her feel uncomfortable or wrong Kind regards Lee Marcus

The driver was 2 hours late and turned up in a tiny van (when we had ordered a large) - he was unwilling to help with anything. Wouldn't reccomend this service to anyone - we had to book another van last minute on the day!

Lee and his helper loaded 40 heavy boxes of books, papers and records, drove directly from London to Norfolk, and unloaded them on all arrival very efficiently. He was a little delayed but phoned me to warn me that was going to happen. He did a good job.

STAY CLEAR! They destroyed my belongings!!! Driver's response: Addressing this complaint regarding a damaged television: I spoke to Nick regarding the tv the day following the move as he sent me pictures of his damaged tv, which had apparently had to be sent off to the manufacturers so they could identify the fault. The tv company subsequently reported that the tv was damaged from within and had not suffered a knock from the outside, as there is no evidence of any damage to the outer screen. I was told by both Nick and the driver that the television was placed in a safe and secure position in the van (with it being wrapped both initially by the customer and again by us, as we wrapped it in a carpet). The tv was then placed behind a mattress so that nothing would be able to fall on it and damage it. I then tried to find out if there were any knocks or jolts that happened while driving, or anything that could have caused the tv to have moved inside the van, or be damaged. Both the customer and the driver have stated to me that this never happened. I also asked if the driver had dropped the tv or if there had been any way that he could have damaged the tv from carrying it and he has assured me that there was not. I feel I have done as much as I can to help with this matter as I do not want to have an unhappy customer, however, I cannot accept liability for damage we did not cause. In a situation where we did not initially wrap the tv; it was placed in a position in the van we and the customer considered safe and the customer was happy with; it was not dropped and there was no driving accident, our insurance company will not cover a claim. In addition, the television was initially wrapped by the customer prior to the move so there is no way for us to confirm whether the tv was defective before the move, it could conceivably have been damaged whilst the customer was moving it or wrapping it. I have even investigated finding a cheaper repair option for Nick and feel that I have done as much as I can possibly do. Thank you.

Lee was FANTASTIC, helped to move every single box, carried the heavier items for me and I always felt at ease with him despite the stressful nature of moving - if I could give higher than 5 stars I would - Very highly recommended!

The move itself seemed to go ok, despite being 40 mins late and hoping to leave before the 4 hours i'd booked for. However the real problem was that despite putting several layers of bubble wrap around the widescreen tv, writing fragile on it, and pulling lee aside to explain this is a tv be careful with it, it was still damaged in transit and is now useless. Anyway accidents happen i understand that so asked to claim on their insurance. Nope. Because they didnt pack it themselves and see it switched on before (of course we needed to have everything packed up and ready to go on arrival) no claim could be made. This wasn't pointed out as a precaution and not something i was aware of so kind of makes the insurance pointless. Anyway expensive moved with a junked 50" samsung tv. Driver's response: In answer to this review, it is wrong and there are some key facts that have not been told by the customer: 1. We were not late. We were specifically asked to come to this job later than the booked time as the customers wanted to delay the move due to key issues they were experiencing with the people moving out of the property they were moving into. 2. When we arrived at the second address we were asked to wait and then asked if we could go and find something to eat while we waited. We were happy to accommodate this but subsequently realised time was running short on the booking and we had our next booking to consider, which we did not wish to run late for. We therefore told the customer that we needed to get things moving. Ultimately, the booking did not run over time. 3. The broken tv was not reported back to me until 2 weeks after the move (the move was completed on 22 June and the damaged tv only reported on 8 July). 4. The tv was placed in a secure place and was not dropped or damaged during the move. It was in a box and was not seen before the move so we could not confirm when the tv was broken, whether it was during the move, before it came into the van or within the last 2 weeks of it being in the customer's home. As neither myself nor the helper dropped the tv, nor did I drive recklessly or have an accident on the road, the tv was secure within the van and did not show any signs of damage when we placed it in the customer's home, I am unwilling to take responsibility for any damage. I was very disappointed with the service, my van was booked for 11am and the driver didn't arrive until after 1 o'clock. This really messed up our plans for checking into our new property, and meant I had to sit waiting for over two hours. On top of this, he had a much smaller van than I had paid for, so we ended up having to do two journeys and wasting even more time! I've used man & van companies before and usually there's been no problems. so this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. It made our move very stressful!

Lee was great - I asked if he could come any earlier than my booked slot and he re-arranged it super quickly. I had a LOT of things to move, with him carrying the majority of my stuff (on a very hot day) with zero complaints. Would highly recommend.

Terrible terrible terrible!The guys were late. I received a phone call at 9.15 am -15 mins after they were due to arrive informing me they'd arrive at 10am. No explanation and no apology. They were still late even after the amended time. One guy was playing music from the speaker on his phone around the apartment block. I saw the driver throw items off the van onto the floor (nothing fragile - but still) for ease of unloading I guess??!!! The driver spent a good portion of the time on the phone lining up other moves, which of course delayed MY move and I was subsequently charged extra!!! I would not recommend the "services" of these guys to anyone in fact I would recommend that people choose another driver. I have no idea how the rating on this site is so high. All the other guys I've used have been very professional and pretty punctual.

The driver was great. On time, helpful and efficient. The service from Compare the Man & Van was less so. I forgot to add my discount so was told I had to re-book the van meaning I was charged twice and then told it would take 11 days for my refund to come through! The website was difficult to navigate and I still don't know if I have been charged twice! CMV Response: We are sorry that you forgot to add your discount code and unfortunately we are unable to add a discount retrospectively as the system does not allow us to do this. This is why you were advised that if you wished to use the code, you would need to cancel your existing booking, rebook afresh and would then be refunded your original payment. The reason a refund can take up to 11 days to return to your account is purely due to the banking process and not us. We are afraid we have absolutely no control over this, but refunds usually appear much faster than in 11 days. You will have received immediate email confirmation of your refund, as we never charge customers twice. In addition, we are sorry that you suffered problems with the website, the quote process should take no longer than 60 seconds for the average customer.

The driver and his partner were a couple of hours late due to a mechanical issue with the van which was beyond the driver's control. Having said that, he did his utmost to source another van that was fully equipped and get the job done within reasonable time. There was clear communication throughout from the driver about the delay, so I'm not viewing this as a negative at all. In fact, I was impressed by his friendly manner and how professionally, and with respect, he approached the job and the efficiency with which he completed it, despite the initial delay. There is no doubt in my mind about using his services again in the future. I would certainly recommend him.

The driver was a bit nervous because no one was there to load the van, which resulted in an extra cost for me, while the shop where he picked up the material was supposed to do that. CMV Response: We can see from the booking that this customer booked the self loading option so the driver would not be expected to touch the load.
